27th May 2013
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: Southerly
Wind Stength: F 3 - 4
Surf / Sea State: flat to bumpy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: cool
Weather: Sunny
Max Speed: 23.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 31.7 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

On the water 9.45am as had to leave 1pm - and it was was biggys day F4+ flat, sunny low tide. Had a fantastic first hour, although Nick on 6.5 was abit under. Rigged 146L pro excite ride to 7.7 Pryde H2 sail and Took off for the Manor end, as the beat was almost perfect. If i could tack better would have made the point easy, but fell in and the boom slipped 100m out. Bastard time wasting drag to land for the fix. Had runs between the swell in the river to flat water the other side. Alas had to leave 12.30, but lucky the wife gave me a break, so sailed all day!!
A few sailors out, not packed but I think most were under which is a shame, as it was the perfect 5***** for me.
Lord Swain turned up with his 50p Ebay kit to harrass me in the dying wind, but I declared no contest under minimum wind rules (my rule :)
Update on the North shox suspension system.

I am getting another (hopefully from the same guy), as it definitely works –
Today was flat on the inside but bumpy on the outer (like fludge) which normally gives my ankles gyp on the big board (its usually swollen at the end of a long session), and you would physically hear the board 146L slapping going out. This time I went straight for the wave full on and the effect was dramatic. No slap sound or bounce or spin out on the other side of the wave!
Going into the gybe again the big tail board used to slap as I nail the lee rail..now its damper and smoother. I covered the most Nm’s (31) for a long while (except on long board)
Speed -(software downgraded to 23.15kts– I cant tell, unless I swop over with the old system to compare as the speed was norm for conditions.
It’s a great piece of kit (not for the retail price though) but there are negatives
1)The damping is like a power steering that’s too light. I spun out a bit more because The rig felt easier and I pushed the fin too hard. The movement looks to be about an inch (looking at the scratch marks). I need to add finesse to my gorilla style fin loading. Maybe learn chimp style :
2)The connection pin mechanism is made for people with pussy fingers – its *ucking fiddly
3)I have already bent the link spring pin in the small connection socket is not robust enough, so I am going to order spare springs now!!!
4) The full retail price is expensive I think with the mast base. Its not worth £250 unless you have back problems. But I would thoroughly recommend it if you are replacing a Extension, and you can get a used deal as I have (I have the 2013 version), and sell you old one. The actual extension is top North quality
